Program Overview

The Center for International Education (CIE) is excited to announce the opportunity for Madison College students to intern abroad with Global Experiences in summer. Possible program locations include England, Ireland, Spain, and Italy and subject areas include hospitality, event management, media, film, marketing, fashion, and possibly others.

Course Information

Students will intern for 35-40 hours per week in an area related to their field and may also complete necessary coursework to receive credit at Madison College when they return.

Please contact CIE directly with questions about which internships may be possible and before completing a Global Experiences application.

Accommodations and Meals

Students will live in apartments with other interns. All apartments are centrally located for easy access to internship sites, although distance and modes of transportation will vary based on location and work site. Students can choose to cook in their apartments or visit many of the restaurants and grocery stores nearby.

Global Experiences has on-site staff in each city that will assist students with transitioning to work and life in another country. On-site staff will also arrange a number of excursions and trips to expose students to various cultural experiences in their host country.

Additional information

A passport is required for U.S. citizens traveling outside of the country. If you need to apply for a passport, it is advised to allow at least 6 weeks for standard processing. A visa may be necessary, depending on the host country location. Information on the visa process will be provided after acceptance, if necessary.

All students are required to attend a pre-departure orientation. The orientation provides information on health and safety, packing and trip planning, flight logistics, and other essential information.


The program cost will vary depending on location and length of the internship. Please contact CIE directly for additional cost information.

Interested students are required to complete an application by the deadline date. All materials, including the initial deposit of $500 (made payable to Madison College), must be received by 4:00 p.m. in the Center for International Education. (NOTE: unless an applicant is rejected, the $500 deposit is non-refundable). All finalists will be interviewed and required to complete an additional application for Global Experiences.
